Principles of E-paper Display Technology:
E-paper Display (EPD) technology, also known as electronic ink display technology, is based on micro-capsule technology. The basic structure of an EPD consists of millions of small capsules, each containing two types of electro-phoretic particles: Negatively charged white particles and positively charged black particles are suspended in a transparent liquid.
Electrophoresis: When an electrical field is applied, the corresponding black or white particles move to the upper part of the micro-capsule, making this area visible to the user in either black or white. This is accomplished by using charged particles, as well as the principle of attraction under an electrical field.
Bistable Technology: When positive and negative electrical fields are applied to the electrodes, the charged black and white particles move and align according to the principle of attraction of different charges. When the electrical field is removed, the particle order remains constant and the image remains unchanged. When the image is updated, a different electrical field is applied to the electrodes and the particles move again, allowing the display to be refreshed. The new electrical field layout rearranges the black and white particles, and updates the display.
