Otokar A.S. (Automotive and Defense Industries Inc.) announced that Türkiye’s first autonomous driverless bus, which it is still developing, has successfully passed the tests. Okan University and Otokar have been cooperating for 3 years on the driverless bus, which has successfully completed the 2nd phase software integration and driverless verification tests. The autonomous bus, a first in Türkiye, stopped at a red light during the test, picking up pedestrians from the bus stop and giving way to pedestrians who wanted to cross the street. The driverless bus with adaptive cruise control also recognized a pedestrian who suddenly jumped on the road during the test and managed to stop at a safe distance.
