A supercomputer developed in Japan has become the new owner of “the world’s fastest computer” title. Personal computers usually use 4- to 8-core processors, while Fugaku, which can perform 537 quadrillion operations per second, has more than 7 million processor cores. This supercomputer consumes energy enough to light up a small town. Fugaku, which brought the title of “the world’s fastest computer” to Japan 9 years later, will also be used in coronavirus researches.
