The success story of Istanbulspor, one of the most long-established teams in Türkiye, has been shared frequently on internet recently. Istanbulspor was taken to the Third League in 1927-28 in accordance with the regulations. The team with Ihsan, Hayri, Ali Sohtorik, Tevfik, Suvari, Halis, Mithat, Kemal Halim and Hikmet has become the champions same season and promoted to the upper league. The first uniforms in yellow and black colors were in two parts. Then the club attached a yellow star over the black part on the right side. 1927-28 Third Division, 1928-29 Second Division, and 1929-30 First Division… The march had already begun! The yellow blacks finished fifth in the six-team Istanbul League. The next season in the same place again…
The 1931-32 season was played without Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, who had problems sharing the revenue of the Istanbul League. These two were later joined by Besiktas. Istanbulspor first won the championships from the five-team Istanbul League matches. Then it represented Istanbul in the Turkish championship and closed the season with the Turkish championship.
