Assan Elektronik, which used to manufacture industrial electronic devices in the initial years of its establishment, is now one of the leading companies in Türkiye with the capacity and technology it has in the production of electronic modules. The company is able to place 1 million components per hour with 6 SMD placement lines and 2 automatic THT placement lines. We talked about the activities and goals of the company with Cuneyt Demiray, Assistant General Manager of Assan Elektronik, who emphasized that they were focusing on exports as of 2019.
Cuneyt, can we get to know you closely?
I was born in Istanbul in 1979. I started my working life at Inform Elektronik in 2001. Then I moved to Assan Elektronik after about 13 years of experience. I am currently continuing my duty as Assistant General Manager at Assan Elektronik.
Can you give information about Assan Elektronik?
We are a company founded in the early 1980s. Initially, the company was only interested in the production and design of electronic circuits, while from the 90s it started to add LED panel, digital challenge watches, LED-supported TV studio decorations, as well as LED information and scoreboards to its production range and used LED intensively. With the increase in our production capacity, we have started to offer products and solutions to different sectors. We have also been providing services to the defense industry, which has not been affected so much by the economic volatilities in the last three years. After our partnership with DMY Holding in 2013, we have been transformed into a company that designs and sells its own LED lighting related products.
At the end of 2018, we decided to handover our production, design, sales and after-sales activities related to LED lighting products to our group company Na-De. With this, we aimed to bring our growth in the electronic boards field to the levels we want.

You are among the leading companies in Türkiye in the production of electronic modules. What would you like to say about the production capacity you have?
We are one of the leading brands in Türkiye both in terms of capacity and technology. With our recent investments, we managed to reach the capacity to place 1 million components per hour. I believe that technological competence is as important as capacity. I can easily say that the most advanced technology required for the production of electronic boards in the world is available in our structure.
How many SMD AND THT placement lines do you have? What kind of technologies do you use to increase the capacity at your production facility?
Assan Elektronik has 6 SMD placement lines and 2 automatic THT placement lines in its production facilities. We use technologies such as Automatic Optical Inspection, Solder Paste Inspection, X-ray device, Conformal Coating line, BGA re-work station and Dry Cabinet to increase the capacity in our production facility. At Assan Elektronik, we are constantly monitoring the technology.
Which sectors do you mainly offer your products and solutions for?
We produce electronic boards for leading organizations that you can think of in the defense industry. We believe that our production for the communication sector will increase in one or two years. We also have indirect productions aimed at general automotive industry. Also, we offer products and solutions to many sectors, from elevator companies to power electronics companies.
Do you plan any new investments?
We closely follow the latest trends in electronic board production technology in the world, and conduct many researches. We also make investments aimed at increasing our capacity. With the acquisition of Informating company by DMY Holding, most of the company infrastructure joined to Assan Elektronik. With this investment we started in 2018, we have increased the number of SMD lines from 4 to 6. By making an agreement with Kardex on storage systems, we have reduced our warehouse space but increased our warehouse capacity. With this system, the warehouse area of 700m2 was designed with a volume of less than 100 meters. We are also working to bring environmental condition tests such as vibration, salt water and sealing to next levels. We aim to create clean room environments in Class 10000. In addition to environmental conditions, we also perform functional tests.
What differentiates you from your competitors in both local and global arena?
We supply the component of the product, manufacture the product with the best technologies, and deliver it to our customer with up-to-date testing methods. That differentiates us the most. DMY Holding’s financial strength, stock volume and leadership in the electronics sector add momentum to our growth rate.
Do you have an export target?
Going abroad markets is one of our main goals. Starting from this year, we intend to export products related to the manufacturing of electronic boards. I believe that we will be able to express this more clearly with the figures to be obtained after 2020. We are going to Productronica, which is held every two years in Germany, as a visitor. Here we also observe the latest international studies.
What would you like to say about your partnership with DMY Holding?
One of the most important advantages of the partnership with DMY is Assan Elektronik’s cooperation with Ozdisan Elektronik in component procurement processes. One of the founding goals of Ozdisan is to offer a turnkey product, i.e. PCBA, to the customers to whom it sells components. For this purpose, an electronic board manufacturing department was established at Assan Elektronik. During this process, the manufacturing of lighting products was also being carried out. We care about being in contact with companies that we can get services from under the roof of DMY. I believe that these collaborations empower us further.
How was the year 2018? What are your goals for the end of 2019?
We have achieved our targeted turnover in 2018 and set our turnover target twice as much this year as last year. We will achieve our goal with the orders we have received as of the beginning of this year.

How many employees do you have in your organization?
We have 150 employees in total, including 35 white collar workers and 115 blue collar workers. A large number of our employees are undergraduate and associate degree graduates.
What kind of activities do you have for customer satisfaction?
We have a customer complaints unit. For after-sales support, we have developed an in-house program. In this way, we reduce complaints to minimum levels every day.
