Isabellenhütte, one of the world’s leading shunt resistor manufacturers, has a long-established history of 500 years. Isabellenhütte, which recently signed a distributorship agreement with Ozdisan Elektronik, offers its products to customers in Turkish market with the assurance of Ozdisan. We talked about the company’s operations and R&D activities Deniz Vartan, Distribution Sales Manager of Isabellenhütte. Vartan said that Isabellenhütte is one of the leading brands in the sector with its modern production facilities and technological infrastructure.
We know that you have a long-established history of 500 years. What would you like to say about Isabellenhütte?
We are one of the oldest companies in Germany. All Isabellenhütte employees are proud to be a part of this large and well-established company. With a long market history, Isabellenhütte is the world’s leading manufacturer of copper materials, high-quality precision and power resistors. Our company is also known as a market leader that offers the best measurement results with the shunt resistors and passive components it produces. This performance is still a prominent value in the shunt components world.

In how many main sections does Isabellenhütte carry out its activities? Can you tell us about these?
Our operations are re-divided into subsections within our three main departments. These are; precision measurement, precision and power resistors, and precision alloys. Our R&D and quality departments are rather focusing on high quality standards in materials and products. If the product we manufactured fails to meet the high quality levels that we have determined, they cannot pass our quality control standards. Our shunts are subject to almost 50-70 different production steps. We believe that such a high level of production standard can only be possible in Dillenberg, Germany, which is our headquarters. For this reason, Isabellenhütte continues to carry out all its manufacturing activities in Germany.
Which sectors do you produce products and solutions for? What are the application areas of your products in particular?

Isabellenhütte shunt resistors can be used on any electronic board that requires a precise measuring mark. The main application areas, on the other hand, are automotive, e-mobility (battery management and charging systems, ABS, ACC, injection, etc.), engine control drives, medical technologies, aerospace, measurement technologies, power meters and white goods.
What do you think are the factors that differentiate your company as a technology leader?
Isabellenhütte provides a lot of time and funds for R&D activities of new materials and technologies for resistors to be used in both today’s and future’s technologies. Our powerful and efficient R&D department develops new high-precision and low-cost resistance materials required by our customers. Isabellenhütte is also the founder and patent holder of Manganese (1889), Zeranin (1967) and Noventin (2014) resistance materials. We also participate in research and development studies with people working in leading companies with promising technologies for the future.
What does innovation mean to you?
As Isabellenhütte, we are the leading company in our sector. The most important feature of being a leader is to be able to lead the market with new designs. Isabellenhütte continuously offers new products to its customers and maintains its leading position.
“Isabellenhütte provides a lot of time and funds for R&D activities of new materials
and technologies for resistors to be used in both today’s and future’s technologies.”
What would you like to say about your cooperation with Ozdisan Elektronik?
Ozdisan Elektronik and Isabellenhütte cooperation started in November 2018. We are proud to work with Ozdisan Elektronik, the pioneer of the sector in Türkiye. We offer our high quality products to Ozdisan Elektronik’s wide customer portfolio, with Ozdisan assurance. Ozdisan has a professional and exemplary staff consisting of engineers, salespeople and marketing employees, as well as a great logistics structure.

“We offer our high quality products to Ozdisan Elektronik’s wide customer portfolio, with Ozdisan assurance.”
What percentage of your products do you export? Which countries are you mainly active in?
We develop and manufacture 100% of our products in Dillenburg and Niederscheld & Oberscheld in Germany. Our main market is Germany and other European countries, followed by China, Japan and America respectively.
Do you have a new investment plan? Could you tell us about your recent R&D efforts?
Isabellenhütte has been making continuous investments to its own infrastructure (production lines, machines, new engineers, transportation and logistics management) for more than 6-7 years. This is a continuous effort to meet the expectations of both our customers and the market in general. In addition, we are always trying to improve the quality of our shunt resistors and product materials. Our experienced R&D team, quality control staff and production team are improving our processes and product measurement activities on a regular basis. New resistance materials and a new shunt resistance family will be announced by Isabellenhütte very soon.

How is the year 2019 going for Isabellenhütte? Will you be able to achieve your goals? And, what are your goals for 2020?
2019 is a challenging year for the entire electronics market. Especially in the automotive sector, we encountered unexpected situations. Isabellenhütte is a popular shunt resistor manufacturer in this very ambitious and challenging market. Due to our leader position, we have to meet very high quality standards in the automotive, hybrid & electronic vehicle industries, which are also our main markets. As Isabellenhütte, we have also been affected by the global economic crisis in the automotive sector. Nevertheless, we are very optimistic. We believe that exciting projects will always exist, just was the case in the past. We only think that this will take a little time. In addition, Isabellenhütte has a strong market presence in industrial automation, medical, aerospace and white goods industries, that can compensate for such crises. As Isabellenhütte, we hope to grow continuously in 2020, encouraged by the success of our technology. We will manage to grow with our ISA-PLAN and ISA-WELD series. Also, we will continue the infrastructure development projects I mentioned earlier.

What are your predictions about the future of your sector? What awaits the electronics and automation sectors in the future?
Isabellenhütte is constantly working on new product ideas for its ISA-PLAN and ISA-WELD series. ISA-PLAN resistors are manufactured from resistance alloys with homogeneous sensitivity, such as corroded Manganese or Zeranine. In addition to our existing SMx and VMx component series, we also introduced CMx and new FMX series. ISA-WELD resistors are manufactured from copper and resistance alloys Manganese and Zeranine, or composite materials such as ISAOHM and ALUCHROM. In addition to the existing BVE, BVS, BVT, BVR, BVB and BRS component series, we have also launched GMP (2010 chip power resistor), BVZ (4026 high power resistor), BVN (1216 space-saving power resistor) and BVF (smallest ISA-WELD power resistor, 3.1mmx3.3mm).

“Our shunts are subject to almost 50-70 different production steps.”
