OpenAI Wants To Macufacture Its Own Artificial Intelligence Chips

The companies behind artificial intelligence tools are spending a huge amount of money to be able to offer this service. Therefore, many companies, big or small, are looking for ways to reduce their expenses. The biggest problem at this point is the chip shortage. The fact that the companies buy a large number of chips concurrently leads to a huge shortage in the industry, and many companies including Meta and Microsoft are looking for ways to manufacture their own chips. One of them is OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. The roughly daily cost of CharGPT is $700k currently, and this cost is increasing as the use of artificial intelligence tool becomes widespread. This cost is one of the main reasons why OpenAI is looking for ways to manufacture its own chips. Another option for the company, which has been looking for alternative solutions for expensive chips since last year, is to work with both Nvidia, which holds 80 percent of the GPU market, and other chip suppliers. OpenAI is also testing the chips manufactured by Microsoft, while manufacturing its own chips remains a long term huge investment for the company.
