Recom, which produces converters, current regulators and LED drivers in all power classes, has become one of the important brands in the industry with its advanced products, reliable customer support and, above all, broad distribution network. Recom, which develops products for general industry, transportation, medical, energy, lighting, telecom, automotive, test and measurement sectors, has signed a distributorship agreement with Ozdisan Elektronik as a strategic step towards strengthening its presence in Türkiye. We talked about Recom’s activities and vision with Marco Peretta, Recom’s Regional Sales Manager for Southern Europe, who underlined Ozdisan Elektronik’s leading position in the Turkish market with its strong sales team and expert staff.
Can you give us information about Recom?

Which sectors do you offer products and solutions for?
At Recom, we manufacture several products for many fields such as general industry, transportation, medical, energy, lighting, telecom, automotive, test and measurement.

Your headquarters are in Gmunden, Austria and have an area of 3000 square meters. What are your operations there?
In order to keep up with our company’s growth target, we placed our headquarters right at the center of Europe. Our modern laboratories with state-of-the-art equipment are located in a 3000 m2 building. Our center has main departments such as the research and development department, quality laboratory, application engineering, marketing, test and EMC laboratory, logistics and a finance unit.
Do you establish close cooperation with universities and academic institutions?
We open our EMC room to students so that they can test their designs, and we also support their projects with our converters free of charge. Our AC/DC and DC/DC datasheet is a very important data source. We offer it for the use of all professionals and students. We also take part in informative events at local universities and high schools.
“We open our EMC room to students so that they can test their designs, and we also support their projects with our converters as free of charge.”
How do you define the concept of modular and decentralized power supply structure?
The concept of “distributed power structure” allows a centralized circuit on-off power supply to be combined with many local “built-in”
converter modules, allowing the developers to produce much more flexible and efficient designs. Today, the ”ready-to-use” modules can be used for almost any application in the industrial controls, power generation, medical, aerospace and transportation fields.
What would you like to say about your cooperation with Ozdisan Elektronik?
Ozdisan Elektronik is our distributor authorized to market and distribute Recom’s wide range of converter modules. This is a strategic move for Recom to strengthen its position in the Turkish market. Ozdisan has a strong sales team and we have no doubt that this cooperation will both improve our customer services and expand our presence in Türkiye.

Can you give us information about your annual production capacity? How many employees are working in your organization?
In 2018 we manufactured 15,000,000 converters and added 43 new product series to our product range. We expect this momentum to increase in 2019 as well. At Recom, we have 430 employees globally.
What differentiates you different from your competitors?
Fast and reliable distribution supported by proven Recom products, the most advanced online portal (project registration, price quotation, stock control), and new ideas and products that are constantly being improved by our dynamic team are some of our leading features that distinguish us from our competitors. Also, we offer the strongest “growth line” for our distributors and we have the best marketing communication and brand recognition in the industry.
“In 2018 we manufactured 15,000,000 converters and added 43 new product series to our product range.”

In 2018, we opened a new R&D department specialized for customized AC/DC and DC/DC solutions with high power standards in Austria, and employed 14 engineers there. We plan to make more profit in 2019. Our R&D departments strive to meet the needs of the general market and the personalized solutions.
How was the year 2018 for you and your sector in general? What are your expectations for the year 2019?
We had a good 2018 in line with market expectations. Due to the economic situation in Europe, the market figures are not as good as expected. However, we believe that we can reverse this trend and reach our targets in 2019 with our newly introduced products and new production capabilities.
